Walter Schulte
Walter Schulte (1910–1972) was a German psychiatrist. The University Hospital Tübingen documents that he led its psychiatric clinic from 1960 to 1972. That institutional history confirms the person and period, but does not identify a first publication of the numbered table.
Why “1950s” needs care
Many modern accounts place the origin in the 1950s or 1960s without pointing to an original dated description. We therefore describe a mid-twentieth-century attribution rather than present a specific invention year as established fact.
From paper to browser
Number grids became a convenient repeatable attention task on paper. Digital versions can shuffle positions, time each round, and save a personal best. This site is a contemporary game version; its score should not be confused with a standardized clinical assessment.
